ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Raindance Film Festival is the largest and most important independent film festival in the UK. Now in its 22nd year, it is based in the heart of London's buzzing West End film district.

Raindance showcases features and shorts by filmmakers from around the world to an audience of film executives and buyers, journalists, film fans and filmmakers. Along with screenings, there are seminars, workshops and parties to allow everyone the chance to share our passion for independent cinema.

Raindance satisfies the public's thirst for original filmmaking through its diverse international programming. The focus of our programming changes each year to reflect current trends in world cinema. The new underground, Japanese cinema, European, North American and UK indies feature regularly alongside our other strands from all over the world.

Our programme is the boldest in the UK, including both a music documentary focus as well as some of the edgiest films in the world. Each year the Festival screens roughly 100 feature films and 150 shorts.

Amongst others, Raindance has hosted the UK premieres of Pulp Fiction, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Blair Witch Project, Asoka, Memento, No Man's Land, Ghost World, Capturing the Friedmans, End of the Century and Old Boy. Our programming receives plaudits from press and public alike.

Over the years, the festival has hosted such guests and filmmakers as Christopher Nolan, Shane Meadows, Ken Loach, Marky Ramone,
Iggy Pop, Anton Corbijn, Quentin Tarantino, Faye Dunaway and Lou Reed. Over the last few years our international Jury has included Lemmy, Charles Saatchi, Armando Iannucci, Beth Gibbons (Portishead), Jason Flemyng and Tom Waits.

Current patrons of Raindance include Terry Gilliam, Mike Figgis, Ewan McGregor, Michael Winterbottom, and Marky Ramone.
